Exciting news! It has just been announced that our very own Kyle Claypool (that’s me!) has been selected as the Technical Expert for the 2011 WorldSkills Website Design competition in London.

WorldSkills London Web Design

SkillsUSA is an organization that promotes vocational and technical training at the high school and post-secondary levels. Students compete at local, state, regional and national competitions in fields as diverse as bricklaying, auto repair, website design, IT networking, baking and cosmetology. The very best are selected to compete at the WorldSkills competition every two years. In past years, the competitions have been in Japan, Switzerland, Finland, and other locations around the world.

Optima has proudly supported SkillsUSA for years – Mark Claypool has been the Team Leader of the SkillsUSA World Team since 1997. Prior to that, he worked with them as a fundraiser, raising over five million dollars to support this wonderful program.

We’re excited to be representing the United States at the WorldSkills competition in London next year. Our competitor has just been selected, and will be announced later this week. Then the rigorous training will begin! In addition to serving as the team’s technical expert, Optima will be leading a fundraising effort to send the team on their way.
